The Staff at Integrity House represents a highly trained and experienced group of Professionals with over 50 years of combined experience in working with youth. Our Educators and Therapists are State Licensed professionals, many holding post graduate degrees in their respective fields.
Daniel Taylor: Program Administrator
Daniel has Bachelor Degrees in Sociology and Child Development with emphasis in criminology and middle age childhood from Southern Utah University. He has been in the field of working with troubled teens and teens with disabilities since 1992. Daniel has worked in Youth Corrections, County Mental Health, a Psychiatric Hospital and a Drug and Alcohol Hospital for teens and several residential treatment centers.
Daniel’s experience includes working with autistic and deaf children, teens and adults with felony convictions, male sex offenders, adults and teens in psychiatric hospitals and teens in residential treatment centers. Daniel and his wife were licensed as an Acute Therapeutic Foster Care home and worked with ungovernable teenagers in their home; implemented treatment plans, taught life skills and worked toward reunification of teens with their family and society.
Daniel is also a consultant working with other residential treatment centers, parents and various youth programs.
Hyrum Taylor, Supervisor
Hyrum Taylor has been involved in the mental health field since 1995. He was a Volunteer Mentor at Cook County School District in Chicago working with youth affected by inner city gangs, violence and drug abuse. Hyrum has worked as a Psychiatric Technician in a teen drug and alcohol hospital. He also worked as an Assistant Director and Supervisor in a residential treatment center in southern Utah.
Hyrum is a Certified Instructor for the American Red Cross in First Aid and CPR and a Certified Instructor in Positive Control Systems, a de-escalation and appropriate restraint process.
He attended Southern Utah University majoring in Sociology and Psychology.
In his spare time, Hyrum enjoys spending time with his children and playing tennis.
Phyllis Charles: CEO
Phyllis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Accounting. She has over 30 years experience in the Accounting Field, working for school districts, nonprofit organizations and manufacturing companies in positions such as Accounting Manager, Controller and Director of Budget and Finance. Phyllis has been a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and the American Society of Women Accountants.
Phyllis has served on several boards such as: Board of Directors for the Interior Rivers State Fair and the Aniak Day Care Association both in Alaska. She has also volunteered in her community and her church for years and has served as the Congregation Coordinator for her church’s matching funds agency, Church Secretary and Treasurer and been a Youth Leader in her church.
Phyllis has worked at Integrity House since 2004. Phyllis helped start the Academy of Eastern Arizona, has trained staff and is currently the CEO.
Dan Dekker: Admissions Director
Dan Dekker has been working with families and teens since 2003. He studied Business Administration at Utah Valley University and Southern Utah University. For several years, Dan has worked as a transport agent in helping families safely transport their teens to residential treatment facilities. He has also been involved in parent coaching and teen intervention. He thrives on helping struggling teens reach their full potential and become healthy young adults.
Dan has worked with Integrity House since 2003 and is currently the Admissions Director. He has seen the lives of many girls changed through his years with the program. Dan and his wife reside in Utah with their two children.
Helen B. Johnson, LPC, Clinical Director
Helen B. Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Utah specializing in pre-cognitive trauma. She has worked extensively with Reactive Attachment Disorder, Asperger’s Disorder and individuals who are seriously and persistently mentally ill.
She obtained her Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix in 2003 where she graduated with honors. She is currently working on her Doctorate Degree through Argosy University in Salt Lake City.
Helen has worked in the mental health field since 1990. She started working with adolescents in an after-care program through Charter Canyon Hospital. She later worked with a local mental health agency in multiple positions for 7 years. Her focus was with individuals who were discharged from the State Mental Hospital and helping them transition into society. In 2002, Helen began working in residential treatment where she worked for 7 years with adolescents. Her focus was adoption issues, Reactive Attachment Disorder, trauma, substance abuse, Bi-polar Disorder and defiance. She started as a traditional therapist in residential treatment and then took position as Clinical Director at Sunrise Academy in 2006. In 2008, Helen transferred into private practice where she works with children, adolescents and adults.
Helen is married with 4 children and loves to spend time camping and riding ATV’s with her family.
Sherrie Gerry, Therapist
Sherrie earned her Masters of Mental Health Counseling through the University of Phoenix after receiving a Bachelors from Southern Utah University. Some of Sherrie’s strong points include working on trauma recovery, post traumatic distress disorder, self esteem building, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and providing cognitive behavioral therapy.
Sherrie has taught “Women’s Power” and “Survive and Thrive through Divorce” classes to adults. She enjoys working with adolescents.
Sherrie serves on the Board of Directors for World Peace Gardens and has volunteered with Bikers Against Child Abuse. She enjoys sports, music, dance and gardening. Sherrie has five children ranging in age from 13 to 24 years old.
James Frandsen, Supervisor
James studied Psychology and Human Development at Southern Utah University. He also studied Communication at the College of Southern Idaho. He has worked with youth since 1998 in different capacities including Integrity House since 2002.
James has owned and managed two successful businesses and has been involved with several charitable organizations. His positive attitude and leadership qualities are assets to his position as Supervisor. He is committed to continuous improvement of the program.
Stephanie Bachtelle: Student Advocate
Stephanie has completed her undergraduate coursework at UCLA and Chapman University and plans to graduate with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University in the fall of 2011. Aside from working on her studies, she is also conducting research at SUU concerning impulse control and risky behaviors in the executive functioning of adolescents.
Since 2005, Stephanie has worked as a Youth Mentor, Tutor, Coach, held Youth Leadership Positions and been involved with after-school enrichment programs for students ages 12-19. In California, Stephanie taught art classes and worked with developmentally disabled, Down Syndrome and Autistic teens and young adults. She has also worked extensively with preschool-aged children with various learning disabilities. She has coached volleyball, soccer and softball to school-aged children as well.
She began working at Integrity House during the summer of 2010 as an Intern. Stephanie enjoyed her Internship so much that she moved to Cedar City permanently from her hometown in Southern California.
After she earns her Bachelor’s Degree, Stephanie plans to attend graduate school, obtaining her Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology.
